Are you ready to take on a challenging Machine Learning problem? Join 150 students at this year's edition of the Analytics Club Datathon, running from May 5th to 7th. This is a great opportunity to network with like-minded individuals while sharpening your skills. Don't miss out on the chance to be a part of this exciting event!
We're gearing up for an exciting Datathon, and we want to make sure that all teams have an equal chance to succeed. To keep things fair, we'll be announcing the challenges shortly before the start of the event. But don't worry, we will still give you a hint by sharing who our challenge sponsors are! And here's even better news: the winning teams will receive a total funding of CHF 10000! So start assembling your team and get ready to tackle some exciting data challenges!
Last year's hackathon featured a diverse range of challenges that challenged participants to develop innovative solutions to real-world problems.
Challenge 1 was presented by WinJi, a Zurich-based startup that offers a performance monitoring platform for wind and solar parks. The challenge involved developing a machine learning model that could automatically detect turbine malfunctions and other critical information from continuous time-series data. Participants had the opportunity to work with real-time data and develop creative, out-of-the-box solutions to this complex problem.
Challenge 2 focused on healthcare data and the development of improved text analytics for multilingual medical information. The goal was to create a solution that could reliably extract and summarize medical information across different languages, using a combination of existing models and APIs. Participants had access to a variety of tools and resources, including GPT-3, Azure Text Analytics, and SciSpacy/SpaCy.
Challenge 3 involved using machine learning to improve the service for Amazon Fulfillment Center. Participants were given access to AWS Machine Learning Platform (Amazon SageMaker) to train and test their models for object detection based on the Amazon Bin Image Dataset. Participants also received coaching from AWS experts to develop the most effective solutions.
Challenge 4 was presented by the Swiss Association of Actuaries (SAA) and focused on improving the customer experience of finding information on travel insurance coverage. Participants used Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to develop a Q&A bot that could enhance the ability of insurers to deliver the right answers to their customers. The challenge provided participants with a real-world FAQ dataset and the latest Amazon Web Services (AWS) tools to create a more transparent and convenient travel planning experience.
These challenges provided an opportunity for participants to showcase their technical skills and creativity while tackling some of the biggest challenges facing industries today. The hackathon was a great success, and we look forward to seeing the innovative solutions that this year's participants will develop.
